Bible Q&A

From Death to Life

The Bible says that we were all born into this world spiritually dead in need of life. This happened when Adam disobeyed God's one and only command "If you eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will surely die" (Genesis 2:17). Adam didn't die physically that day since he went on to live 930 years. He died spiritually. The life of God which Adam was created with left him and spiritual death had been passed down to every human being, except for Jesus Christ. Jesus came to reverse the curse and offer new life to anyone who believes in Him.

Your Old Identity

MORE ABOUT OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

You Are Completely Forgiven

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14

What has God rescued us from?

What hasa God brought us in to?

When did this forgiveness occur?

Is forgiveness already ours or must we ask for them on a daily basis?

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the law, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14

You Are Completely Righteous

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith. Romans 1:16-17

What is revealed in the gospel?

How do we become righteous? By faith or by obedience to the law?

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. Romans 3:21-23

Who testified about God's righteousness?

Is this referring to self righteousness or God's imputed righteousness?

How is righteousness given to us?

Who is given to?

What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. Philippians 3:8-9

Why did Paul say it was OK to have lost all the things in his life?

Paul said he gave up self-righteousness for what?

How do we become right with God?

You are Completely Holy and Blameless

But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation….Colossians 1:22

How were you reconciled to God?

Are you now holy in God's sight?

Are you now without blelmish and free from accusation?

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Ephesians 1:4
