Why did Jesus rise from the dead? What is the reason for it?

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a cornerstone belief in Christianity, symbolizing hope, redemption, and victory over death. According to Christian theology, Jesus, after being crucified and buried, rose from the dead on the third day, as prophesied. This event is considered central to the Christian faith for several reasons.

Firstly, Jesus' resurrection is what gives us new life! We are more than sinners in need of forgiveness, we are born into this world dead and in need of life. Romans 10:9 says " If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"

The resurrection of Jesus also validates his claim to be the Son of God and the Messiah. It affirms his divine nature and the truth of his teachings, demonstrating God's power over death and sin. Secondly, the resurrection provides believers with the promise of eternal life. By conquering death, Jesus offers the hope of salvation and reconciliation with God to all who believe in him. Thirdly, the resurrection serves as a model for spiritual renewal and transformation. Just as Jesus emerged from the tomb in glory, Christians believe they can experience new life and freedom from sin through faith in him. Lastly, the resurrection underscores the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and love over hatred. It inspires believers to live in accordance with Christ's teachings and to share his message of love and forgiveness with the world. Overall, the resurrection of Jesus Christ holds profound significance for Christians, shaping their faith, identity, and understanding of God's ultimate plan for humanity.

Resurrection of Jesus - What Does it Mean? What is the Real Purpose of the Resurrection?

3 things happened on Good Friday, the day that Jesus Christ died. Most of you know one of them, but what about the other 2?

Good Friday is a Christian holiday that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday.

For Christians, Good Friday holds profound significance as it marks the culmination of Jesus' earthly ministry and his sacrifice for the redemption of humanity's sins, according to Christian belief. The crucifixion is seen as a central event in Christian theology, representing Jesus' ultimate act of love and obedience to God's will.

Despite its somber tone, Good Friday is also understood within the context of Easter, which celebrates Jesus' resurrection from the dead, signifying victory over sin and death. The period between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is thus seen as a time of reflection, repentance, and anticipation of the joyous occasion of Easter.

Here are some additional points about Good Friday:

Biblical Basis: The events of Good Friday are primarily recorded in the New Testament of the Bible, particularly in the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). These accounts detail Jesus' arrest, trial, crucifixion, and death, fulfilling prophecies from the Old Testament.

Liturgical Observances: Good Friday is observed in various ways by different Christian denominations. Some hold solemn church services, including scripture readings, prayers, hymns, and reflections on the Passion of Christ. Many churches also participate in the Veneration of the Cross, where congregants may approach and kiss or touch a cross as a sign of reverence.

Fasting and Abstinence: In some Christian traditions, Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence, where believers may refrain from eating meat and engage in prayer and contemplation.

Symbolism: The crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday is rich in symbolism. The cross itself has become one of the most widely recognized symbols of Christianity, representing sacrifice, redemption, and divine love. Additionally, elements such as the crown of thorns, the nails, and the lance used to pierce Jesus' side are often depicted in art and liturgy, serving as reminders of the suffering endured by Jesus for the sake of humanity.

Global Observance: Good Friday is observed by Christians worldwide, with various cultural and regional traditions influencing the ways in which it is commemorated. In some places, processions or reenactments of the Passion may take place, while in others, churches may remain solemnly quiet as a sign of mourning.

Reflection and Contemplation: Beyond its religious significance, Good Friday serves as a time for believers to reflect on their faith, contemplate the meaning of Jesus' sacrifice, and consider the implications for their own lives. It is a time to remember the depth of God's love and the promise of salvation through Christ's death and resurrection.

Good Friday - What's So Good About It? You Will Be Surprised.

We all have sinful desires. But the question is "How do we control them"? Is there a way?

As human beings, we grapple with a myriad of sinful desires that often stem from our inherent human nature and the complexities of our existence. These desires can manifest in various forms, ranging from selfishness and greed to lust and envy.

One common sinful desire is the urge for power and control. Throughout history, individuals and societies have been driven by the thirst for dominance over others, leading to oppression, exploitation, and conflict. Similarly, the temptation of material wealth and possessions can consume us, fostering greed and covetousness that distort our priorities and relationships.

Another prevalent sinful desire is that of lust, which encompasses not only sexual desires but also an insatiable craving for physical pleasure and gratification. This can lead to objectification of others, infidelity, and the erosion of moral boundaries.

Envy, too, can corrode the human spirit, as we compare ourselves to others and covet what they have, whether it be material possessions, success, or relationships. This toxic desire can breed resentment, bitterness, and a sense of inadequacy.

Moreover, our inclination towards pride and self-righteousness often blinds us to our own faults and prevents genuine humility and empathy towards others. This arrogance can fuel judgmental attitudes, prejudice, and the breakdown of compassion and understanding.

In essence, these sinful desires represent the inner conflicts and struggles that define the human condition. While they may lead us astray, acknowledging and confronting them with introspection, moral reflection, and spiritual guidance can pave the way towards personal growth, ethical living, and the pursuit of virtue.

Sinful Desires - How We Can Control Them

The New Covenant superseded the Old Covenant, a transformation initiated at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. As the mediator of the New Covenant, His sacrifice ushered in a new agreement between God and people. By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. (Hebrews 8:13)

The concept of the New Covenant superseding the Old Covenant is fundamental to Christian theology, reflecting a significant shift in the relationship between God and humanity. The Old Covenant, established between God and the Israelites through Moses, was characterized by adherence to the Mosaic Law, ritualistic sacrifices, and a system of priesthood. However, the Old Covenant was temporary and served as a precursor to the fulfillment of God's ultimate plan for redemption.

The New Covenant, prophesied in the Old Testament and realized through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, represents a transformative shift in God's relationship with humanity. In the New Covenant, God offers salvation and forgiveness not based on adherence to the Law, but through faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrificial death on the cross. This covenant is universal, extending to all people regardless of ethnicity or nationality.

Jesus himself proclaimed the inauguration of the New Covenant during the Last Supper, symbolizing it with the bread and wine as his body and blood. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law, reconciled humanity with God, and provided a pathway to eternal life.

The New Covenant embodies themes of grace, mercy, and love, surpassing the legalistic constraints of the Old Covenant. It offers believers freedom from sin and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to live transformed lives. As such, the New Covenant represents the culmination of God's redemptive plan and establishes a new era of relationship between God and humanity.

The New Covenant Replaced the Old Covenant

What is your response to God when you sin? Are you asking God to forgive you again and again?
Many pastors teach that you must ask God to forgive in order be receive His forgiveness. That however, is just not true. We don't get forgiven, we are forgiven.

Jesus forgave the world of sin through his sacrificial death on the cross and his subsequent resurrection. According to Christian belief, Jesus, as the Son of God, lived a sinless life and willingly offered himself as the ultimate atoning sacrifice for the sins of humanity. By bearing the weight of human sin on the cross, Jesus took upon himself the punishment that humanity deserved, thus reconciling humanity with God.

Through his death, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of divine justice and demonstrated God's immense love and mercy towards humanity. His act of forgiveness transcends individual transgressions and extends to all who repent and place their faith in him. This forgiveness is not earned through human effort or merit but is freely given as a gift of grace.

Furthermore, Jesus' resurrection from the dead vindicates his claims and confirms his victory over sin and death. It signifies the triumph of life over the grave and offers the assurance of eternal life to all who believe in him.

Jesus' forgiveness of sin provides believers with hope, redemption, and the promise of reconciliation with God. It invites humanity into a restored relationship with the divine, characterized by love, peace, and everlasting fellowship.

God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting your sins against you.

Forgiven By God - 90% Sure Is Not Enough

No! It is impossible for a Christian to lose their salvation. For a Christian to lose their salvation, God would have to erase the mark on a Christian, withdraw His Spirit, cancel the deposit, break His promise, lie, revoke the guarantee, remove the gift, and keep His inheritance. The Bible clearly teaches us that we have eternal life and can never lose it.

The concept of the perseverance of the saints, often associated with the belief in "eternal security" or "once saved, always saved," asserts that once an individual becomes a genuine Christian, they cannot lose their salvation. This belief is rooted in several key theological principles within Christianity.

Firstly, it rests on the sovereignty of God and the efficacy of Jesus Christ's one time sacrifice. According to Christian doctrine, salvation is not dependent on human merit or effort but is solely a result of God's grace. Jesus' death and resurrection secured salvation for believers, and it is viewed as an irrevocable gift.

Secondly, the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is seen as a guarantee or seal of salvation. Christians believe that the Holy Spirit empowers believers, sanctifies them, and guides them into truth, ensuring their perseverance in faith.

Furthermore, proponents of eternal security argue that the love and faithfulness of God are immutable. God's promises are trustworthy, and His commitment to preserving the salvation of believers is unwavering.

While believers may struggle, experience doubt, or even temporarily stray from their faith, the conviction remains that God's grace is sufficient to uphold and preserve them until the day of redemption. This assurance brings comfort, confidence, and gratitude to Christians, motivating them to live lives of gratitude and obedience to God.
